SANITARY BOARD OFFICE,

Sir,

Hong Kong, 24th January, 1900.

I have the honour to call your attention to the following:- In the minute as to Pension Rules published in the Gazette under Government Notification 452 of 1895 I find that under clause 3 paragraph 2 of these regulations a schedule has been drawn up by which professional officers joining the service in certain capacities are allowed an additional number of years according to their qualifications.

I now find that probably through some oversight my name has been omitted from this Schedule, and I therefore respectfully request that you will be pleased to recommend His Excellency the Governor to bring this omission to the notice of the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, with the view of adding my name to the list.

Seeing that the period of study for the qualification of member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons is the same as that required for a Medical degree, I submit that I have an equal claim to be classed in the Schedule with the Assistant Surgeons of the Medical Department.

I therefore respectfully request that His Excellency the Governor will be pleased to forward this my application to the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonial Office, and recommend it for his favourable consideration.

I have &c.

The Honourable

The Colonial Secretary.
